Non so più dire quando tutto è iniziato davvero, se la sera in cui mi hanno messo il gesso e la voce ha parlato per la prima volta, o se era già lì, nascosta da qualche parte dentro di me, in attesa di un momento buono per farsi sentire.
Mi aveva chiesto: "E ora? Se non puoi nuotare, cosa fai?"
Non lo sapevo, davvero.
Ero abituata a sentire il mio corpo spingere, a muovermi senza fermarmi mai, a tornare a casa con i capelli bagnati, il fiato corto e la testa leggera. E invece, tutto si era fermato. Il nuoto, i movimenti, il battito regolare che mi calmava ogni volta che mettevo la testa sott’acqua.
E nel silenzio, la voce ha sussurrato ancora: "Controlla."
E così ho fatto.
Ho iniziato piano, quasi per gioco, quasi per riempire il vuoto lasciato dall’acqua. Ho tolto qualcosa, ho saltato un pasto, ho contato, ho pesato. Solo per questi dieci giorni, solo finché non sarei tornata in vasca. Solo per non sentirmi inutile.
